About the Casting Medium |
||||||
|
Forton MG was developed over 20 years ago for the architectural restoration industry. Today, architects and designers use this casting system to fabricate ornamental building facades, columns, fireplace mantels, ornamental plaster work, etc. The raw material itself consists of 7-10 separate
ingredients which are mixed together to create the final casting material.
Although it is a durable, weather resistant and non toxic material to work
with, it is a difficult material to handle without training. In addition to
very specific casting considerations, a flawless silicone mold is required
to achieve a high quality casting. For these reasons, I believe that Forton
MG has been slow to find common recognition in the sculptural field. (Ball
